Baby Rango and Baby Charlotte sharing broccoli!

We couldn’t do what we do without the aid of our canine companions! From our herding dogs to the livestock guardian dogs, everyone has a job on the farm. We typically breed only once a year or less. Many of these pups go on to working homes of their owns, but we do place with appropriate pet homes. At all times we will take back puppies who no longer have a suitable home with their family or will help the family rehome them appropriately. We breed mainly to ensure we have trainees as our sheep flock expands and our farm continues to have free-range poultry and other animals.

We have a heavy predator load, with very bold coyotes in our rural neighborhood, and a variety of raccoons, possums, and even aerial predators who would be more than happy to steal eggs, chickens, ducks, lambs, and trash! For our fortune of having good LGDs, the predators avoid our property for the most part (knock on wood!) and our herders are so helpful when it comes to safely, calmly, humanely moving livestock to and from various pens, on and off the trailer, or through the working aisles when it is time to weigh, worm, or trim.

Livestock Guardians: Our original LGD, Gus, is aging gracefully on the farm and enjoying partial retirement. In 2021, we added a Sarplaninac LGD. Oakley may be joined by a second Sarplaninac in 2023. Until this foundation pair are mature and health clearances available, we have no LGD litter plans.

Herding: Gin produced an excellent litter in October 2021. We do not have current plans for another herding litter in the near future. Gin’s daughter Belle is growing up here on the farm to follow in her parents’ legacy.
